FFA223- Digital Ink and Paint (Sketch Final)

So the first progress for our final artwork, the theme is STEAMPUNK. And the first thing to do is to sketch the idea for the final artwork. My choice is to make a concept art of a steampunk ghost town being attacked by gigantic steampunk inspired robot and a girl in hijab.  Here is this:

Perspective in Fundamentals Of 3D -Scene

After facing a lot of troubles, we finally managed to finished it in time. All the finals assignment are in progress of different subjects and the stress level is increasing according to my friends (me too).
The scene we are making is a personal garden which compiled each of us modelling and texturing different items and combined them in one scene. Here are the perspective view of it :

FFA223-Week 7 (Shadow and light)

On week 7, we learned on how to create shadow and light based on the main light source. We were told that the light are not yellow or white because they reflect and refract on certain objects with different color therefore it will create different range of color on the light. The first exercise is this:

We were given this particular exercise and were told to add lighting and shadow in places where we think appropriate. Tips by lecturer: Form shadow first instead of light because it helps you to understand more. And thus, here is the result:

With the light and  shadow, with additional texture using super impose we learn before, we managed to create this . The main light source would be the lamp in the middle in the room and other small one near the air conditioner.

Our week assignment is doing the same thing except for different surrounding. Here is the original picture:

While the first exercise uses lamp light source, this one uses the natural light source which is the sun. We need to determine what time is the scene because sunlight differs in different time in color, I choose noon time (i guess?). And again, we need to find where to put the shadow and darken it and then add light ray. And thus, it resulted to this:

To be honest, I never really good in lighting and shadow compared my other friends and my capability in thinking logic is kinda low so, you guess it, But doing this exercise, it helped me a bit with my composition in putting shadow and light direction in my artwork either personal or assignments.

FFA231-MECHANICS OF MOTION (Watching Snow White and Seven Dwarfs)

On our next class, we have an easy task which is to pick a movie to watch. Among three choices, The Incredibles, Toy Story and Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and  the majority chose to watch "Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs" because it was Disney's first animated feature film ever produced and it was made by cell animation.

It was my first time watching 1937 Snow White which made me kinda excited. To be honest, the film was really entertaining and family-friendly. And thus, after finishing the movie, we were asked by the lecturer to choose a character from the movie and kinda create a review on it based on the questions:

1) Who is your chosen character? 

2)What are his/her traits?

3)What is his/her role in the story?

4)What is his/her goal?

5)What does he/she fear the most?

6)What his/her exaggerated characteristic?

7)What is his/her relationship with other characters?

CHOSEN CHARACTER

In the story, I chose Snow White (such a cliche, really)

Reasons? I guess maybe because it was easier to know her since she is the main protagonist in the story. Well basically the story was about her obviously (Her name was basically the title).

SNOW WHITE

HER TRAITS

Snow White was as kind and gentle. This kind and gentle demeanor could be seen when she is interacting with the woodland creatures in the movie. Most of the time, she seems to be cheerful as she sings and dance a lot but there a particular scene where she turned to be strict when she requested for the dwarfs to take a bath and threatening them by saying that they couldn't have dinner if they refuse to shower. Snow White was also depicted as naive as when the evil queen's huntsman pulled out his knife upon her, she didn't run away but instead screams and shielded her body using her arms.

Also, not to mention the fact that she accept a stranger into the house and casually consumed a suspicious apple from the same stranger even though she had been warned by the dwarfs to be careful. That was reason why the evil queen managed to poisoned her.

HER ROLE

Snow White was the protagonist for the movie. She was a princess who lived with her stepmother, the evil queen. However, she did not lived like a princess because the evil queen made her into a scullery maid. Although she was treated badly, she maintained her innocent and naive demeanor. She seems to have influence in animals for some reason. She also became the fairest of the people in the kingdom as the magic mirror describe her as "Lips as red as blood, skin as white as snow and hair as black as ebony" which describe her a beautiful princess.

She also fell in love with the prince who join her duet while doing her maid duties, however she ran away.When she started to live with the dwarfs, she acted like a mother figure where she cleaned and washed their clothes, did the cooking and managed the household. (Of course, with some help from the woodland animals). She also kisses their forehead before the dwarfs went to work. She helps Grumpy to became more friendlier and create a lively atmosphere with singing and dancing.

HER GOAL

Her main goal is probably wanting to keep safe from the Evil Queen grasps. She seems to be fine living as a scullery maid in the beginning of the story. She did not even ran away from her stepmother or complained. But the instance she found out that her stepmother tried to killed her, she panicked and ran off into the forest immediately.She even start imagining that the trees are trying to hurt her and very terrified. Second, her goal might be to take care for the dwarfs properly as a sign of gratitude for letting her stay. Maybe perhaps, find the love of her life :D

HER FEAR

She was scared she would die, being murdered by the Evil Queen. She ran off and stumbled into a house in the middle of the wood. She befriended the seven dwarfs eventhough one of them, Grumpy were a bit cold towards her. She seems to getting used to the dwarfs lifestyle and presumably, wanted to live her new life with them. However, she end up getting poisoned and was put in a coffin (a glass coffin to exact) because the dwarfs could not bare the thought of not being able to see her if they buried them.

Well, she did end up in a coma for a while. Untill the prince stumbled upon them and decided to give a kiss to Snow White who he thought a corpse. Hmmm..

HER EXAGGERATED CHARACTERISTIC

I honestly thinks that she sings too much, being too kind and being too naive (I wanna use the word stupid but that a bit harsh).

Snow White is excessively kind to the point she willingly became a scullery maid for the evil queen although she has the right as A PRINCESS and doesn't seem to mind to be treated that way. I understand that she is the protagonist and she was created that way but honestly letting herself getting used is unacceptable. She could at least try to run away or something. Even if she felt guilty for abandoning the stepmother, I am pretty sure the Evil Queen would live without no problem because she knows magic and she's evil.

Also, right when she found the dwarfs house, she entered without any precaution and simply asked, "Hello?". Honestly, in common sense, a few minutes away she was running from the huntsman and all of sudden, she barged into an unknown house? And thus, she also commented on the the house itself such as how dirty the house is and also mentioned about "What funny name they have little children." Excuse me, but she being the intruder here, wouldn't that consider as rude? 

Nevertheless, her excessive kindness and gentleness made people around him love her such as the woodland animals, the dwarfs and the prince himself.

HER RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

First, her relationship the main antagonist, the Evil Queen is bad. Like really, really bad. While other loved her, the Queen was so engulfed in her jealousy towards Snow White and was blinded to see how kind Snow White is. Obviously both of them does not have a good relationship since the Queen wants her dead and have the huntsman to bring Snow White's heart to her.

Except for the Evil Queen, she seems to be very likeable to every character in the story. She could been seen enjoying the moments with dwarfs, the animals and they sing and dance a lot, showing that she had no trouble in making friends with of them. The animals even took time to help her out with the chores and warned the dwarfs when Snow White were poisoned . The dwarfs chased the Evil Queen in the old hag disguise and resulted her death when she fell after the cliff as struck by lightning.

FFA233- ASSIGNMENT PHOTO IMPOSE

Our newest assignment is Photo Impose which is basically making pictures more interesting from the way it originally was. By using photoshop, our lecturer taught us how to do photo impose by using this boy. Look below:

From the original photo, we need to add a few more background photo or texture such as picture of trees or buildings. However for the the boy's, we were given two photo as texture. Look below:

And after adding both of the background, we could add our own colour and the type of lighting we wanted to add. For my final photo impose on the boy, I have created, look below:

This new reborn fabulous little guy. :)

We were also given another challenge which instead of using pictures from the internet, we need to use our own photo and capture the background picture our self. And therefore, I have decided to use this picture. Look below:

After removing the unused background, (the wall and the floor), just like the boy's picture, a few photo were added to make it more interesting. I picked two background photo for texture which is, look below:

And as the final result, I made 2 photo impose using different type of lighting (hard mix and soft light). Here we go:

FUNDAMENTAL OF 3D- MODELLING AND TEXTURING

                                                       

                                                           

                                                                                 


For our 3D class, we have to choose one object to model and I chose a well for the assignment.
Above is my well which I had created using Maya 2017 software. It is image of different perspective of the well.

FFA231-MECHANICS OF MOTION

This week , our class were assigned into three activities (again) and all of them consists a lot of imaginative skills. The activities are Being There,Minimal Word and Sound Scape with Place Atmosphere.

Being There is all about imagining yourself as an animal and how was it feel to live like them. I chose a slow slimy animal and it is legless😉. It have a shell of its own for protection. Yup, it is a Cornu Aspersum, most commonly known as snail (siput babi). When my turn arrived, I told them I was a small animals and most of my kind are dead , getting step on by humans. I told them I could sleep for 3 years long and my shell was made by my own faeces (Ew).

Basically I chose snail because are underrated animal who need more love instead of getting disgusted by them.

Our second activity,  Minimal word is an activity which creating a situation where you pick your pair and act as if it was your first time meeting but of course, without using sound as much as you can. Hanna (my partner) act ous as a rich snobbish lady who was randomly walking on a back alley alone while talking on her phone and she met a beggar (also a crazy woman) which was acted out by me, started to grab her legs and shaking her furiously, Hanna then proceed to pulled her leg away from me and took out a wad of cash and threw it on the floor and told me to find a hospital get treatment. The activity as the I took the mone and laughs because I was succesful on taking her money.

Lastly, our final activity was to create a situation that require us to make noise of a place of our own choice. This group activity consists ten people and we decided to made a robbery on a train engine. We separate our teammates into smaller group of train worker, police in disguise, robbers and citizen. Each of us are assign to a noise. Me myself was chosen to be a train worker whose job is to collect coals and put in into the burner using a shovel. Overall it all went well and all of us enjoyed all the activies.
